Driving schools in Swords

Swords is the county town of Fingal and the largest town north of the city, just off the M1 at Dublin Airport. For a learner it offers a good mix. The town centre has a one-way system around the Main Street and the castle, with on-street parking and pedestrian crossings, and the Pavilions and Airside retail parks bring queues at weekends. Around the town are big estates such as Rivervalley, Applewood, Holywell and Brackenstown, built with roundabouts and distributor roads that suit early lessons at 50 km/h. The R132, the old Dublin to Belfast road, runs through the middle with bus lanes and many signalised junctions, and the airport roundabouts and the M1 slip roads at Lissenhall and Drinan are where instructors take you for merging and lane changes. The nearest RSA test centre is Finglas, about ten kilometres south-west along the R107 or the M50, with Mulhuddart Maple House a similar distance. Swords has no rail yet, but buses to the city centre run every few minutes along the R132 and there are express services from the Pavilions.
