Driving schools in Dublin 1

Dublin 1 is the north city centre: O'Connell Street, the quays, the markets and the streets around Connolly Station. Learning to drive here means one-way systems, bus lanes that change by time of day, Luas tracks on Abbey Street and Marlborough Street, cyclists on both sides and pedestrians stepping off kerbs. Most of the district is a 30 km/h zone, and loading bays and taxi ranks take up much of the kerb, so parking practice is rare and junction work is constant. Few learners do their first lessons here. Schools that cover Dublin 1 usually collect you and head out the Malahide Road or the Drumcondra Road to quieter streets in Dublin 3 or Dublin 9 before bringing you back into the traffic. The nearest RSA test centre is Killester, about four kilometres north-east along the Howth Road, and Finglas is the alternative to the north-west. Connolly has DART and commuter trains, and almost every bus to the city centre passes through the district, so getting to a pick-up point without a car is simple. If you live here and want calmer early lessons, look for a school that also lists Dublin 3 or Dublin 7.
