Driving schools in Dublin 16

Dublin 16 is Rathfarnham, Ballinteer, Knocklyon, Ballyboden and Templeogue's southern edge, the suburbs that run up to the foot of the Dublin Mountains. The estates off Grange Road, Scholarstown Road and Ballinteer Avenue are large, built from the 1970s onwards, and have the kind of long distributor roads with roundabouts and speed ramps that are useful for a new driver. They are also hilly, and the roads south towards Tibradden and Stocking Lane narrow quickly into country lanes with no footpaths, so lessons generally stay north of the M50. Rathfarnham village and the Nutgrove shopping centre junction are the busy points, and the Grange Road carries heavy traffic from the schools along it. Most residential roads are 30 km/h. The M50 is reached at Ballinteer or Firhouse, and the Tallaght bypass at Firhouse. Buses run from Ballinteer, Knocklyon and Rathfarnham to the city centre, and the Luas Green line is a short distance away at Balally. Tallaght is the nearest test centre, about 5 km west through Firhouse and along the Tallaght bypass. Schools that cover Dublin 16 usually also take learners from Dublin 14 and Dublin 24.
