Driving schools in Dublin 2

Dublin 2 is the city centre south of the Liffey, from Trinity College and Grafton Street out to the canal at Portobello and Baggot Street. Few learners start here. The streets are one-way, the junctions are controlled by lights every hundred metres, and bus lanes, taxis, cyclists and delivery vans take up most of the road space. A 30 km/h limit applies across the core. What Dublin 2 does offer is practice in dense traffic once the basics are in place: Pearse Street, Westland Row, the quays and the canal road around Leeson Street are useful for lane discipline and reading signals. Schools that list Dublin 2 usually collect learners at a workplace or a college and drive out to quieter roads in Dublin 4 or Dublin 6 for the actual lesson. There is no test centre in the city centre. The nearest ones are Dún Laoghaire/Deansgrange, about 10 km south along the N11, and Tallaght, reached by the canal and the N81. The DART at Pearse and Grand Canal Dock, the Luas Green line at St Stephen's Green and buses on every main street mean most learners here do not need a car during the week at all.
