Driving schools in Dublin 20

Dublin 20 is Palmerstown and Chapelizod, the small district on the south bank of the Liffey where the city gives way to the N4 and the M50. Chapelizod is a village of narrow streets, a steep hill down to the river and a congested one-way loop, and most schools avoid it until a learner is confident. Palmerstown is different: the estates around Kennelsfort Road and the Oldcourt area have wide roads, roundabouts and 30 km/h limits, and the Lucan Road through the village is a 50 km/h arterial with a bus lane. The real feature of Dublin 20 is the N4. The road runs straight through the district as a dual carriageway, and the M50 junction at Palmerstown is a few hundred metres away, so a learner can get onto fast roads and slip lanes within minutes of starting. Buses run along the Lucan Road and the Chapelizod Road to the city, and Heuston is the nearest railway station. Leixlip test centre is the usual choice, about 8 km west along the N4 through Lucan, and the roads around the Springfield Hotel feel much like the Lucan Road. Mulhuddart and Tallaght are both reachable by the M50.
